Fallingwater built by renowned American architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1936 comes up on its 75th anniversary! As a former student of architecture myself, I have always loved homes that respect and embrace nature, and Fallingwater (often considered as Wright’s greatest work) stands out as an inspirational piece of architecture within that context. One day I hope to see it in person; it is definitely on my bucket list.
Fallingwater, built as a vacation home for the Kaufmann family between 1936-1939 is located in rural Pennsylvania, 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Now a national Historic Landmark, it made its way to the cover of Time magazine in 1938 and gets its name as it is cantilevered over a 30’ waterfall. (more…)
