Dinesh Mills Residence
Outskirts of Vadodara City, Gujrat, India
So this home is clearly not in Los Angeles, or even anywhere in the USA, but we had to showcase this beautiful contemporary residence located just outside Vadodara City, in the state of Gujrat in western India.
Built by the Indian studio Atelier dnD, this 6,000 square foot contemporary residence was completed in 2010. The concept was to “To build a minimalist house with simple clean lines, uncluttered geometry, fluid, transparent spaces where the interiors and exteriors blend into each other in an attempt to keep the user constantly in touch with the outdoors.”
Minimalist with clean lines, it has a great indoor-outdoor flow while preserving as much of the site’s natural vegetation and trees as possible. The house is constructed along a central spine with three outdoor verandahs that mark the transition from the indoor to the outdoor. The outdoor pool and deck embrace the living and the master bedroom and tie the home together while doing the added job of cooling it. The poolside extends into the lawns beyond making the space great for entertaining. An external staircase leads to the terrace with an open Jacuzzi with views of the vast green forest that surround the site.
